Get to Know Karen

Karen Marker (She/Her), MA, LIMHP

Hello,

I’m Karen!

I am a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner and the founder of Serenity Therapy and Wellness. I have training and experience helping those who have experienced trauma and/or are struggling during pregnancy, postpartum, or in early parenting. I provide therapy through the lens of intersectional feminism and social justice. This means that as a cisgender, straight, white woman with ADHD, I approach therapy with self-reflection, accountability, and a commitment to examining how systems of power, privilege, and oppression shape the individuals I serve both as a therapist and as a business owner.

My Specialties

Trauma Therapy

I am certified in EMDR and am also an EMDR consultant. I have specialized training and experience working with individuals who have complex and attachment trauma. I understand that often our current pain and suffering is rooted in something that happened to us when we were young. I work to heal the whole self-using a trauma-informed approach to therapy.

My Specialties

Maternal Mental Health

Through my own wellness journey, I have come to understand just how tender the years of trying to get pregnant through early motherhood can be. I take a laid-back nonjudgmental approach to therapy with women who are in this stage of life. I understand that while each individual story is unique, there is also room for connection and growth when we share what our journey has been.
